Gas into village: A person in the village who is campaigning to get mains gas into the village and has asked whether she would have the support of the Parish Council had contacted Mr Hoddinott. Mr Hoddinott explained that the Parish Council in the past had endeavoured to get gas into the village and felt sure that the Council would back any campaign now.

Steps from A360 to Highlands Estate: The street light has become overgrown with foliage and with the darker evenings it was suggested that it should be cleared. The Clerk will contact Clarence to request remedial work.

Duck Street handrail: The handrail adjacent to the steps leading into Mill Road has been broken for some time. Although Wiltshire County Council was written to as yet no work has been carried out. The Clerk will contact Wiltshire County Council to see when the work will be carried out.

Tollbar Lane: Residents along Tollbar Close have cut back their hedges along the Tollbar Lane. The Parish Council would like to thank them in their efforts to keep this lane clear.

Correspondence: WCC : Magistrates Courts: A letter from Wiltshire County Councils Chief Executive, Dr K Robinson explains the reasons for Wiltshire County Council not requesting a judicial review following the Lord Chancellors decision to close the Courthouses in Trowbridge and Devizes. Wiltshire County Council sought legal advice and it was clear that there does not appear to be strong legal grounds for seeking an application for Judicial Review. Any funding by the County Council towards an application would involve the use of public funds. If public funds were ventured without reasonable prospects of success, the County Council could be challenged by the District Auditor or an aggrieved third party.

Wiltshire Highway Partnership : Parish Lengthsmen: Because of local elections Wiltshire Highway Partnership have sent out new notes explaining the role of the Parish Lengthsmen. The County Council provide a two man Lengthsmen gang to each Parish three times per year, two days per visit, to assist the Parish Council in the day to day maintenance of some highway related issues (hand cleaning of grips, rodding & cleaning of small culverts & manholes, hand cleaning road gullies, hedge trimming around road signs, washing highway signs, small pothole repairs, kerb repairs, strimming of grass verges for visibility at junctions, siding out overgrown vegetation obstructing footways and road, clearing debris & leaves (but not litter), painting railings & protected verge marker posts) It must be remembered the Lengthsmen are only a two man gang with the use of hand tools. So the work they are asked to carry out should reflect this.

TLC Race to Adopt: This is a commercial website designing company who will design websites for Parish Councils, with 15% of the advertising revenue going to the Parish Council. The Parish Council at present place article on the village website Potterne.net and are not looking to have a website of their own.

KDC : Ownership of land adjacent to the footpath between Silver Street & Coxhill Lane: Kennet District Council have confirmed that they hold no ownership records pertaining to the piece of land and that they did not transfer this land to Sarsen Housing Association during the large scale voluntary transfer. The Parish Council will write to the Footpath Officer at Wiltshire County Council to ask for her assistance in establishing ownership.
