ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Over the years many of the footpaths in the village became overgrown, bridges rotted and became unsafe, stiles fell into decay and were replaced with barbed wire so that many paths became unusable. In the spring of 1993 a party of keen volunteers set out with the intention of restoring the most important paths in the parish, new stiles were erected, steps cut where needed, undergrowth and overgrowth cleared so that once again the paths could be walked in comfort.
It is to all of the volunteers who made up these working party's that I would like to say 'THANK YOU', without your help this book of walks could not have been written for there would hate been no paths to walk.

The clearing and restoration of these paths was due to team work and it would not be fair to select any one for special praise, but in spite of having said that there are two people whose efforts I think should not go un-noticed, Mrs. S. Goddard, who not only helped in clearing the paths, organised the volunteers into working parties and provided the very welcome refreshments, she also read and corrected the proofs, took the photographs and organised the printing of this booklet.
Our thanks must also go to Mr. Clyde Hoddinott for providing the loan of fencing tools as well as the facilities for storing materials delivered in bulk by Wiltshire County Council, and then running them out as required to where they were needed.

Finally I would like to say a big 'THANK YOU' to you the reader for purchasing this booklet, the proceeds from which will I hope help with future path restoration.
