Whistley Road stream: Following a letter to Kennet District Council asking them to carry out the annual clearing of the stream in Whistley Road, a telephone call in reply had been received saying that they will no longer carry out this work. If the stream was causing a problem then the environment agency should be contacted.

Blackberry Lane street sign: This sign has been damaged and is in need of replacing. The Clerk will contact Kennet District Council to request a new sign.

Broken Handrail in Duck Street: Wiltshire County Council has said that there is not a handrail in Duck Street it is part of a private properties fence, therefore the Parish Council will write and request a handrail.

KDC : Neighbourhood Recycling Site at the Bell: Kennet District Council have written to the Parish Council asking if there are any alternative sites for the re-cycling bins that are presently situated at the Bell Public House car park as the site will soon be developed. The Parish Council have asked for suggestions from the public and no suitable sites have been forthcoming.

Cessation of Amenity Skip Service: As part of Kennet District Council's Waste Reduction & Recycling strategy it has been decided to cease providing the free amenity skip service with effect from 31st March 2004

ROSPA Play Inspection : The annual play equipment inspection had been received and it was recommended that additional bark be placed underneath the swings to meet regulation EN1176. Also the see-saw is in need of de-scaling and re-painting.

Kennet District Council - Determination of Planning Application - proposed changes to the scheme of delegation for planning services at Kennet: The Clerk had copied the letter for all Councillors and this matter was discussed. Kennet District Council is proposing to change the scheme of delegation to Officers regarding minor household applications. The proposals would mean objections from the Parish Council or neighbours to an application would no longer ensure an application would be heard by the regulatory committee. The Ward Member would be the only recourse if it was thought an application should be heard by committee. The Parish Council will write to Kennet District Council objecting to the proposals.

WCC : Modification Order, Stert Valley Lane: A modification order from Wiltshire County Council to upgrade rights of way between Sleight Lane to Stert Village has been received. This will affect Potterne footpath 127. Any objections to this modification should be forwarded by 15th December 2003. Wessex Water mains renewal: It was noted that Wessex Water have employed contractors, Brent, to carry out water main repairs and renewal throughout December. Traffic lights will be in operation throughout the village. Court Hill road, leading to Worton will be closed for three weeks, with access only.

Blounts Court Play Area: Following the inspection report from Rospa it was agreed that Bark should be purchased in the Spring to go under the swings etc., as per their recommendation. It was also agreed that work should be carried out to replace the wire mesh fence around the play area and also to erect signs at the entrance in Blounts Court saying who owns the field etc.,

Notice Boards: The Committee agreed to purchase two new notice boards that will be free standing. One will be placed at the pump at Potterne Wick, with the old notice board that is on the wall to be removed and disposed. The other new board will be placed at the Cemetery entrance.
