The Parish Council is to carry out a housing survey in conjunction with Community First. This follows concern in the village over the future of the St Marys House complex. Several Councillors expressed concern at the meeting that residents of the area have been consulted over the possible closure of St Marys House. Neither the Parish Council nor the District Councillor have received any information directly from Sarsen Housing Association or Kennet District Council on this matter. The Parish Council considered that it was important to obtain an up to date survey of the housing needs of the village before any redevelopment of the area was put in place.

A working group of the Parish Council had met twice in the last month and have concluded that a basic housing survey should be carried out as soon as possible. Carol Southall, the Housing Enabler at Community First has prepared surveys that could be used and it was agreed to use these. The Parish Council will need to deliver them to each household in the village, but pre-paid reply envelopes will be provided. Carol Southall will collate the results and her report should be with the Council at the end of May. The working group will meet again shortly to arrange advertising and distribution of the questionnaires.

It is hoped that the residents of the village will respond to the survey in large numbers to enable the Parish Council to put the views of the residents forward at any future planning application.

The Questionnaires will be delivered as soon as possible and possibly by Easter.
